The Black Kookaburra is named after an incredibly rare Australian bird; part of the kingfisher family, the kookaburra (that’s COOK-a-burra, like “COOK a meal”) is an icon of Australia. Black kookaburras are extremely hard to find, sometimes not spotted for decades and definitely something to be excited about. The kookaburra has a loud distinctive laugh that lets you know that it’s having all the fun, and that’s what we want to bring to you: the enjoyment of a quality product that you can Wear, Play and Explore with, while having all the fun.

Founder and designer Daimien Laurens and his team have been designing for over 20 years here in Australia, the Land Down Under, and now The Black Kookaburra brand is here, dedicated to providing the highest quality products for you to Wear, Play and Explore with. Crisp was the morning air as he looked at the sun peeking over the mountains and mist-covered valley below, the warm breath of a horse felt on his neck as he contemplated the ride and the day’s task ahead. He heard a laugh in the distance and in that moment, The Black Kookaburra was born. The outback, its wildlife, critters large and small and all that goes with this awesome land: we are the Land Down Under, and the land is where our inspiration begins. Our products are inspired by its rare and luxurious elements, its vibrant colours, (that’s right we spell colours with a u) clear skies, deep blue oceans, harsh storms and freedom that surrounds us down here.
